The Staying Home Project

Staying Home is the first academic research project on rent banks in Canada. This work is a partnership between the Canadian Rent Bank Coalition and a group of academics from three Canadian universities. Staying Home documents the policy histories of rent banks in Canada, compares guidelines and practices across different rent bank sites and theorizes rent banks through the homelessness prevention literature. Check back here regularly for new project outputs.

In partnership with the Canadian Rent Bank Coalition, the Staying Home research study is being led by Dr. Tobin LeBlanc Haley (UNB), Dr. Laura Pin (WLU), and Dr. Kristi Allain (STU).  For more information, please contact Dr. Tobin LeBlanc Haley.

This study is funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada’s Partnership Engage Grant and has been review by the Research Ethics Boards at UNB (#2022-087), St. Thomas University (ID 2023-02), and Wilfrid Laurier University (ID 7241).
